INDIGENOUS MEDICINE

t’s day 7 and our prayer has finally made it from Bulyum Puyuk to the confluence of Cow Creek and the Sacramento River where we pray one day our salmon will swim up through to return to our McCloud river.

We’ve learned that even when we flow downstream, we are still confronted with challenges but we continue to return to our medicine. This journey is our medicine. These songs are our medicine. These gatherings are our medicine. When we circle up to pray and give thanks we heal. When we reconnect to the sacred places we heal for the ancestors who were removed violently from our lands. When we teach our children these ways we ensure the continuance of our lifeway and all of life.
The three legs of our prayer have now come together beautifully and we will continue to flow downstream as one like the salmon, all the way down to the ocean!
