Mauna Kea Wear Wednesday

MKEA Honors Native American Heritage Month and the upcoming converation with Kumu Mikilani Young for Lā 1111 of Unified Days of Prayer on November 19.
Kapulei and I arrived in L.A. in 2015 to meet with the kiaʻi of that area and Mikilani drives us out to a march and rally sheʻs coordinated that concludes at the TMT Headquarters. It was so powerful that
there were moments when we were marching that I just had to stop chanting and cry, both Kapulei and I were so deeply touched by the love of the mauna by all of our ʻohana in the LA/Pasadena area.

These photos depict the rally and the third time we chanted Kualena ka hei kapu at the TMT Headquarters in California. At the conclusion of the chant, I hit the door with my hand to say...We are Still here, our mountain is still sacred and you best believe we make our mark right here, right now! In that moment I was remembering a video I saw where Native Americans on a reservation were doing something similar as they rose against the bars or stores selling alcohol in town...and counted coup and I knew how they felt and I carried them in my heart as well as every single Aloha Aina standing in Hawaiʻi and beyond. Mahalo Mikilani and those who were there that day for those heartfelt experiences. Pua, Mauna Kea Education and Awareness, Idle No More Hawaiʻi Warriors Rising, Idle No More Mauna Kea.
