Weʻll be collectively praying for our communities during this time in the morning, noon and evening so if youʻd like to do the same, please just join in from where ever you are and pray, chant, sing, and dance to pillar and anchor for those who are the path of the fires, our loved ones, , our native community on the slopes of Mauna Kea, our friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues, and residents.
Pā mai, Pā mai nā makani nui o Mānā, Puʻukapu, Waimea, Waikiʻi, Waikoloa.
He ipu nui waiho aku
He ipu iki lawe mai
The mighty winds of Mānā, Puʻukapu, Waimea, Waikiʻi and Waikoloa are blowing
Leave out The large wind container
Bring in the little wind container
An adaptation of a prayer chant to ask the winds to be calm because we are so blessed to still have the ability, the insight, knowledge and generations of lineage to enable us to still speak with the nature beings and the elements and pray forward our requests because of the commitment and connections we have to these places and practices we still follow and believe in.
So however we can lend a hand and support our communities, from front line assistance, making and providing food, giving donations, and yes, being a pillar of strength, and calm during this time, we will for the land, waters, animals, plants and people.
Suggested prayers to choose from:
E hō mai
Nā ʻAumakua
Mālana Mai Kaʻū
Pā mai nā makani nui
or choose prayers and songs of your own, what matters is that we are universally and collectively joining together to chant for our communities while the fires still burn. me ke aloha nui, me ka haʻahaʻa.
