Eia ka ‘Awa

Eia ka ‘Awa

My feet have returned to the lands that raised me. The presence of Pele dances on the winds, adorning the mountains in her veil of uahi. We prepare the ‘awa tonight in her honor and in celebration of this time of Lonoikamakahiki.

This is the most I have ever consistently been in ceremony during this season. It feels like coming home. This evening on our final night of ceremony with my ‘Ohana for the solstice, offerings of ‘awa will go the land in reverence for all of the ways that this honua loves us. Then offerings of ‘awa will go to each us in deep gratitude to our ancestors that we carry with us and to our bodies that carry our wailua.

Thankful to my family for continuing to live the practices of our people and for continuing to guide us and teach us so we may pass it down.
