ʻIwakeliʻi

I’m finally ready to share. This was one of my favorite moments on Hōlanikū. The North Winds that I named Makani Ka’apeha (to spread wings or tail feathers) came in strong the last month we were there and the ‘Iwa flew in mass procession across the sky. I miss seeing them perching on the naupaka and I miss seeing them flying close enough to look into my eyes. They really are every ‘ōlelo no’eau written about them. I wish to see them more above Hawai’i Kuauli skies.
