Aloha Kākou, mahalo to all who are honoring Lā Kū’oko’a, Hawaiian Independence Day and the call for collective solidarity. please keep sending in your photos of flags flying and Mauna Kea shawl wearing to mkea.info@gmail.com.
I will be posting some photos after the flags are raised on the mountain today and the shawl wearers recite the shawl prayer there. My family is on the mauna right now while I hold the prayer here in the community hour by hour.
For now. we share this video from the Mauna Kea Education and Awareness Booth at the Lā Kūʻokoʻa Event in Waiʻanae on Oʻahu.
If you are in the area and drop by please visit our MKEA Booth and if you need a shawl, kūkulu shirt or other mauna items, youʻll find them there. And as always in these times be safe and protected following all the protocols for yourself, your families and all others.
Raise your flag and wear your ceremony in the spirit of both Independence and Makahiki! Lonoikamakahiki, Ola! Eō!
