A huge win for Mauna Kea and Native Hawaiians. The Supreme Court held that all arguments brought by the state in defense of DOT’s seizure failed.

What they did was illegal, unlawful, and clearly intentional. State violence takes on many shapes and forms.

Thanks to Native Hawaiian Legal Corporation @nativehawaiianlegal , beneficiaries including some of the kūpuna who were unlawfully arrested for protecting Mauna Kea, won their case.

Mauna Kea Access Road is not a state highway.
