Hula Returning To The Ala

The words are still coming to me through the mists of Līhau.

The feeling of being in ceremony at the ahu is still present on my skin and in my heart.

The sound of my mother chanting from the top of Pu‘u Huluhulu is still bringing tears to my eyes.

Seeing The Royal Order of Kamehameha receiving ho’okupu is still bringing the most beautiful memories of waking up to their voices everyday on the frontlines back to me.

Witnessing Hālau Mōhala ‘Ilima dancing and chanting on the very land that we all love and stand to protect is still gifting me the sweetest feeling of reuniting after three long years.

And offering ho’okupu of lei, wai, and oli with our Hale Haumea around the ahu is still straightening my spine and deeply affirming all the reasons why I remain in a sacred space of gratitude to the Mauna for guiding us all together.

He aha lā he kūkulu
He Mauna
He Ahu
He Pōhaku
He Kanaka
