Water is infinite. It holds all the secrets and histories of creation and time. It connects us all, every life form, From babies in the womb to 2000 year old cedar trees standing high above us. The last @ipdnyc I had the honour of taking part of a water ceremony led by two of the most powerful and prolific water protectors on earth today, aunties @ladonnabrave1 and @puacase . People from all over the world had brought water into the East branch of the Hudson River, Lenape territory. As @puacase sang and finalized the ceremony by putting in water from the sacred lake at the very top of Mauna Kea, the piko of the Kanaka Maoli and the very first place water touches earth from the sky, something can alive in my body - I could feel the way the water in me connected me to all of creation. That feeling has stayed with me every since. To honour it and deepen it I have taken up the practice of starting my days with a water song and ceremony. Since then so much has come into my life through the water- maybe this was always the case but I wasn’t able to recognize it, or maybe making space and honouring Water has invited more of its power into my life. If you are someone who is seeking more connection to the earth, to spirit, and creation making space, even just a little every day, to offer gratitude and connection with water is a profound and beautiful way to start. Water reminds us how profoundly blessed are to be in this life and part of all of creation. 📸: @iljaherb
