‘O Pele lā ko‘u akua!
‘O Pele lā ko‘u akua!
Woke up this early morning to so many messages and calls about Halema‘uma‘u erupting last night! Eō!
The alignments are so ancient. Yesterday my two beloved hoa completed their ‘uniki ceremony on Mauna Kea, my beloved tita received her ala ma‘i, and our hoa of ‘Unu were in aha at the crater for solstice. We began the day yesterday chanting ‘Āina Pō for Pele over FaceTime as Lanakila made his way up the mountain. I One Huna ka Pahu in honor of Haumea was offered by women who stood on the frontlines as @vonmahelona called up the images of Haumea from under her skin to walk with her in this realm in the form of uhi. Kupu‘eu Hou Nā Moku was uttered three times to call upon the ancestral stories of creation to remind us of where we come from.
The earthquake last week told us she was coming. The deep call to chant for her from the power places of our homelands tells us that we are still here, still knowing this deep and sacred pilina to ‘āina because it never ever left us.
‘O wai ke akua o Kilauea Mauna
‘O Pele!
‘O Pelehonuamea!
E Pele ē hua‘ina ho‘i ē!
‘Eli‘eli kau mai!
