Hula Beyond The Ala #5
Kūkulu ka pahu kapu a ka leo
He ala hele, hele ala muku
No Kāne lāua ‘o Kanaloa
He kīho‘iho‘i kānāwai
He kai‘okia kānāwai
He kua‘ā kānāwai
No Pele ko‘u akua lā!
I can still remember the way my feet met the earth over and over again as I danced my offerings to her living creation story
I can still remember the rain upon my skin and the weight of water on my pā‘ū
I can still remember hearing my mothers voice rise on the wind and the beat of her ipu syncing to the beat of my very heart
I can still remember the way the mist of Uēkahuna left constellations of dew drops on our hair
Recalling these memories with deep reverence and love for Pele, for Lonomakua, for Hi‘iaka - for all the deities of creation who I know by name and who I don’t. The Goddesses and Gods teach us about boundaries, teach us the natural laws of territory, of the importance of entering into their domain with reverence. We learn how to respect our own boundaries in the human realm by observing the way Mother Earth claims her space on her own time on her own terms. I am a commitment to deepening this connection, deepening this understanding, and deepening the revelations.
No Pele ko‘u akua lā
‘Eli‘eli kau mai
