Hula Beyond The Ala

Ceremonies mark the change of seasons, the shift in the elements, and the ebb and flow of the natural cycles of life.

We still have some of the chants and dances that our ancestors offered in aha to honor these changes. And we, as a living people with an evolving culture, are still here, still writing chants and creating dances about this time that we are living in so that our descendants will know that we still carried on our lineal responsibility to pass down knowledge, experiences, reclamation, healing, and restoration through our ancestral mediums of expression.

So today, I’m alignment with summer solstice, I dance my offerings to the sky in celebration of the beautiful truth that we still acknowledge the significance of this day.
